reservation most of her life, but
her experience on the river was
different.
“I didn’t grow up in a
fisherman’s family,” Secena said.
“My whole summer as a kid, every
year we would just walk down to
the swings with all my cousins.”
She had many adventures and
created a lot of valued memories
as her family and friends grew up
on the river having fun.
Secena’s first time on a canoe
happened in adulthood, and she
realized it was a lot harder than
she expected
She gained an understanding
of how there are many aspects to a
strong pull, such as synchronizing
