                                                                                  during two-day conference


       The Hazel Pete Institute of Chehalis
     Basketry hosted a weaving conference on
     the Chehalis Reservation on Feb. 17-18.
     The event was open to the public and
     hundreds of people came to learn from
     master weavers.
       Other forms of traditional handmade
     art were also taught at the conference,
     such as beading and painting. The event
     was designed for all skill levels, from
     beginner to accomplished.

     Gail Whiteeagle (cedar basket kits)
     Skylar Whiteeagle (cattail berry basket)

     Laverne Kearns (beaded dream catcher/
