       Chehalis tribal elder Marie E. Connors
     (Fricke) Griswold passed away on Jan. 13,
     2024, at age 93.
       Marie was born on July 22, 1930, at home in
     Oakville. She had five sisters – Mae, Barbara,
     Geraldine, Alberta, Delores – all of whom
     proceeded her in death.
       Marie was active in tribal politics her entire
     adult life. She was instrumental in the creation
     of the tribe’s first casino. She talked about
     the many tribal
