SWEDE DAY
FESTIVAL
Chehalis Tribal Royalty
members Madoleen
Goodard, Mila Rogers and
Brooklyn Sofia joined
Chairman Dustin Klatush
to proudly represent their
tribal community during
the Swede Day Mid-
Sommar Festival Parade
on Saturday, June 15. The
lively parade, a host of
vendors and fun activities
brought big crowds to the
Rochester area.
Update on
Briarwood
property
The Chehalis Tribal
Government purchased the
Briarwood Farms property on
Anderson Road. The tribe took
ownership of the 140+/- acres in
January and immediately ended
egg production.
Natural Resources, Planning
and Facilities have been working
on a plan to keep the main
warehouse building but demolish
the 11 chicken barns and clean up
the property.
Briarwood Farms staff removed
manure from the property and a
professional pest control company
was hired to handle the rodents
left in the buildings.
We have had some challenges
repairing and updating utilities
for the site, but we are on track
to begin demolition this summer.
The tribe has sent a Request
for Proposals and will select a
qualified demolition contractor to
perform the work. If everything
goes according to plan, the demo
will be completed this fall and
the site will be ready for whatever
comes next.
The Planning Department has
begun to gather community input
on a plan for the property, which
should be completed during the
next six to 12 months. Stay tuned
for further developments.
