Personal Property That Inmates May Keep
During the booking process, an inmate and their property will be searched. Inmates are allowed to keep their own underwear, plain white t-shirts, socks, and bras that do not have an underwire. A jail issued uniform, hygiene items and bedding items are provided to the inmate. Undergarments and additional/optional hygiene items are available for purchase through commissary.
While incarcerated, inmates may have in their possession:
- A small, soft cover bound telephone/address book (no wire binding)
- Up to ten (10) letters
- Three (3) new paperback books; these must be of acceptable content and will remain at the facility upon release of the inmate (must be sent through the mail from a publisher or bookstore)
- Legal paperwork
- Commissary items from other facilities, only if like items are sold in the Chehalis Tribal Corrections Facility
- Hygiene Items
- Envelopes, stamps, issued writing tools and paper (from commissary)
- Medical aids (must be approved by contract Medical staff or On Duty Supervisor)
- Limit of six (6) photographs (no Polaroid-type pictures)
- Soft bound faith based book; this can be in addition to the three (3) paperback books
- The following clothing items:
- Three (3) pairs of socks (white)
- Three (3) white t-shirts (no logos)
- Three (3) pairs of underwear (standard boxers or briefs)
- One (1) pair of long johns (white, beige, gray, or similar color)
- Females may have three (3) bras (no underwire)
Leaving Property for an Inmate
Property may be accepted by Corrections staff for a specific inmate. These items may be dropped off at the Reception Desk during business hours. Clothing will be accepted for inmates under the following circumstances:
- Inmate needs court-appropriate clothing for trial and is scheduled for a jury trial (must be 1 day prior)
- Inmate needs appropriate outer clothing for release
- Inmate workers may have tennis shoes
- Inmate who cannot order clothing items from the inmate commissary vendor because their size cannot be accommodated
- Medical items, as approved by medical staff
- Medications, as approved by medical staff. Should be blister (bubble) packed and current or additional charges will be charged
- Funds for inmate accounts (Cash, U.S. Postal Money Order, U.S. Treasury Check, during normal Reception hours or Visiting hours
- All other items must be pre-approved by the On Duty Supervisor
Property will not be released while a person is in-custody.
